Ki te marama - Into the light
Urbanart places two dimensional art created by New Zealand artists into city landscapes, via electronic billboards, courtesy of oOh! Media and their "Giving Back" campaign.
Our Goal
Our goal is to present artwork to the public on a regular basis in at least three major New Zealand cities, Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch with a minimum of 9 separate events or "showings" per year.
What we do
Young Urban Artist AwardThe award encourages further generations of artists and photographers to both create and learn their craft.
Young Artists will be invited to submit their work for consideration. A select panel of independent art experts, consultants and public gallery curators will choose the content and winner of each event. |
arTVox Parliament TVAvailable on the Parliament TV channel on Freeview 31, Sky 86 and Vodafone 86.
The programme began on 15 December 2021 and screens when the House of Representatives adjourns for a week or longer. |
The International Art ExchangeNow that we are curating a digitized collection of New Zealand art, we have the opportunity to cheaply and efficiently exhibit our cultural heritage overseas via the International Urban Art Exchange.
Our first Exchange was with with Finland and was held at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts in Wellington in January 2020 with the Finnish exchange occurring in June. |
New Zealand ratepayers own half a billion dollars worth of art.
These precious works are collected, catalogued and cared for by our council-owned collecting institutions. These museums, art galleries, archives and even libraries exhibit the works, when and where available space permits. Local government figures show the collection consists of at least 173,269 pieces, but like many countries, a lack of exhibition space means only a token amount, around 7 percent, is able to be shown! We're changing that. |
